Last October, a collective of seed justice and food growing organisations hosted The Great Seed Festival. The first of it’s kind, the festival brought groups from across the UK’s seed and food sovereignty movement together to celebrate seed, food and biodiversity. Following the festival, the prevailing view was that more collaborative work can be done to protect and revive the seed diversity in the UK.
Now, working closely alongside those organisations and actors who collaborated on the festival, The Gaia Foundation is conducting a feasibility study for a UK-wide programme in support of resilience and security in our seed system. To support this exciting work we are looking for a committed intern to join Gaia for 4 days per week until mid October. The ideal candidate with be a strong communicator with a proven interest in seed and food sovereignty. The position would suit a recent graduate from an agroecology or sustainable farming related degree.
Commitment: 4 days per week

Responsibilities will include:
· Research and mapping of seed related programmes and actors in the UK and Ireland.
· Scheduling and conducting telephone and Skype interviews with a range of UK actors working with seed and related issues.
· Logistical support for regional travel and meetings.
· Contributing to the design of quantitative and qualitative data collection tools.
· Securing survey responses from a broad range of stakeholders.

· Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
· Good telephone/Skype manner
· Friendly, intuitive and assertive
· An interest in seed, food and farming issues
· Good time management skills – organised, efficient and able to prioritise effectively
· Attention to detail
